Role Title – Flavour and Seasoning Scientist - KTP Associate 

Salary – £28,000 –34,000 per annum depending on skills, qualifications and experience. Plus significant training package worth up to £5,667

The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to advance their career through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) working with Mr Lee's Pure Foods Company Ltd and the Flavour Chemistry Group, Division of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics, University of Nottingham. 

 

You will be expected to lead the development of

1) flavour quality and stability testing in the Mr Lee's product range,

2) develop improved New Product Development (NPD) processes, and

3) expand their shelf-life testing capabilities and extend the shelf life of key products to allow access to international markets. 

 

You will be based primarily at Mr Lee's Pure Foods Company Ltd, Bournemouth and you will travel to the University of Nottingham, Sutton Bonington Campus on a regular basis. Whilst your role will involve developing the knowledge and capabilities for shelf life, flavour quality, seasoning technologies and product insight testing at Mr Lee’s Pure Foods you will be expected to use this knowledge to resolve production challenges and enhance the quality of products produced.

Qualifications we require as a minimum:

A PhD in Food Science or Masters in Food Sciences with over 5 years of industry experience is essential for this role.

 

The successful candidate must possess:

  • Strong professional work ethic
  • Ability to build strong alliances with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Organised and methodical

 

Essential skills we require as a minimum:

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge of flavour chemistry 

 

Desirable skills

  • Experience developing dry seasonings for food applications 
  • Experience in sensory and consumer studies

About the Flavour Chemistry Group, University of Nottingham

The Flavour Chemistry Group at the University of Nottingham is one of the UK leading research groups in flavour science. The KTP is led by Dr Nicole Yang, Laboratory Manager and Professor Ian Fisk, Head of the Flavour Chemistry group.  The group actively researches in the area of flavour management and fundamental food chemistry to support novel processing technologies and commercial products, and you will be part of a highly productive team of 13 staff members and 13 affiliated research students.
