Mr Lee’s ‘2020 Vision’ is off to a Flying Start!

We trudged through January, which lasted around a hundred days, then ‘leaped’ over February into March. Now we are perfectly primed for a year of food, fun, innovation and throwing noodles out the door… figuratively speaking, we won’t actually be throwing noodles out the door; no noodles were harmed during this news update.

The year started on a high, with Mr Lee’s being awarded the accolade of ‘Product of the Year 2020’ at the Health and Vitality Honours 2020. This industry-renowned scheme with high calibre entrants recognises and rewards best practice and transparency in the health industry, promoting healthier products and healthy living programmes. A very prestigious honour, the judges heaped praise on Mr Lee’s, quoting: "Outstanding taste, passion in looking after people, proving that convenience can be healthy. Amazing achievement, amazing product". We like those judges!

Our cultivation of relationships with some fantastic air carriers continues to grow and develop with new launches and expanded ranges. Vueling, the largest airline in Spain are launching with Mr Lee’s Coconut Chicken Laksa across all their routes (129 destinations) from April. This popular flavour has already won multiple awards (Great Taste Awards 2019, Quality Food Awards 2019, Best of Health Awards 2018), so it was always destined to be a highflier!

The demand for quality vegan foods that are convenient, particularly for commuters looking for a nutritious ‘refuel’, continues to grow and this has led to an expansion of Mr Lee’s offerings on both Norwegian Airlines (long haul routes) and Virgin Australia, with each now taking onboard Mr Lee’s vegan friendly Zen Garden Vegetables. Norwegian Airlines were already serving Chicken Laksa and Virgin Australia serve Hong Kong Street Beef, so in both cases this is a positive indication that Mr Lee’s meets with approval with passengers. To underpin Mr Lee’s vision and ambition, the team has expanded this year with some carefully chosen new crew members. Ginette Monkcom is our new Marketing Manager and comes from a food industry background, where she has worked with some well-known household brands. We also have a new Business Support Executive in the shape of Francesca De Cata who comes from a corporate comms background. And last, but by no means least, as she has quite a lot to juggle(!) is Cleo Squires, joining as ‘Logistics and Technical Manager’. Cleo is an experienced logistics manager within the food and drink industry. Welcome on board ladies!

The food industry and technology are both developing at quite a pace, but we know we have the personnel that can steer a ship through any ‘seas’ and we’re excited to see what the rest of 2020 has in store!
