Mr Lee's and AFCB team up to give free noodles to football fans at the Bristol City Game

Mr Lee’s teams up with AFCB to offer fans free Mr Lee’s Noodles at Bristol City game

Mr Lee’s teamed up with Championship football club AFC Bournemouth to provide free cups of noodles at the Bournemouth - Bristol City match on 2nd April as part of the club’s drive towards healthy food options.

Supporters were able to choose between a range of different noodles, including our three new ramen flavours; Krazy About Katsu, Kicking Korean Beef and Golden Veggie Curry and our vegan Zen Garden Vegetables rice noodle. They also got the opportunity of entering a competition to win a signed AFC Bournemouth football and a box of noodles by posting a photo on their social media with the hashtag #eatmygoal.

The event was a great success, with 500 cups of noodles handed out to football fans before the start of the match and feedback showing a vast majority of supporters want to see Mr Lee’s Noodles added to the concourse menu options.

This initiative comes as a result of the club’s ongoing commitment to enhance the matchday experience for fans and improve the concourse food choices with a diverse set of healthy options. Paul Fudge, Head of Catering Operations for AFC Bournemouth, approached Mr Lee’s Pure Foods, to test this concept on an initial trial basis.

Paul commented: “With the world going towards making healthier choices and demanding more food inclusivity, we’ve noticed that more and more fans are asking for a wider variety of options and looking for ‘better for you’ foods. Expanding our choices to include healthier foods with more dietary options to address this new need is the first step towards change, and we believe introducing Mr Lee’s products at our game against Bristol City enabled us to do just that.”

This new proposition would expand the vegan/vegetarian offering currently available at the stadium, as well as add gluten free options and introduce a product, which complies with the upcoming HFSS regulations by being non-HFSS (non high in fats, salt and sugar) without sacrificing taste.

“It has been more than two years since we’ve been able to do face-to-face events and we are thrilled to see that our first event after the pandemic has been so well received. Working with AFC Bournemouth brings together our shared visions on the importance of nutrition, healthy eating, community and  supporting local businesses” says Kasia Bigda, Marketing and Communications Director at Mr Lee’s.

She continues: “It also allows us to continue to provide healthier instant food options to people. Bournemouth is our hometown and a brand partnership with another local company makes it even more special - some may say it’s “a perfect match!” (pun intended)”.
